Angelina Jolie, original name Angelina Jolie Voight, (born on June 4, 1975 in Los Angeles, California, U.S.), American actor and director renowned for her sexiness and edginess and also for her charitable work. Jolie is the daughter of actor Jon Voight, was raised in New York. After her growing up, she relocated to Los Angeles, where she was the character of the mental patient in Girl, interrupted (1999). After going to the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute two years later, she was enrolled at Beverly Hills High School. Later, she studied drama at New York University. Apart from acting in theater productions, she also played the role of a model as well as appearing in music videos.Jolie's first film-related performance was in Hackers (1995) in the filming process, she met her first husband, British actor Jonny Lee Miller (married 1996 divorced in 1999). It wasn't well-loved as were a number of other movies. Jolie, who played the role of governor's wife of Alabama's segregationist governor attracted a lot of attention in 1997. Later, she won the Golden Globe Award. In 1998, she was the role of a model who was struggling with addiction issues in the HBO film Gia and it was a role that brought her numerous awards, including a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild Award. She co-starred with John Cusack in Pushing Tin in 1999. The following year, she married Thornton (divorced in 2003). In Gone in Sixty Seconds ((2000)), she played the role of Nicole Cage's girlfriend. She later took on the British accent, and learned kickboxing and street fighting to play the title roles in Lara Croft Tomb Raider (2003) and Lara Croft Tomb Raider : The Cradle of Life (2004). In 2004 she portrayed the mother of Alexander the Great in Oliver Stone's Alexander and also played alongside Gwyneth Paltrow and Jude Law in Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, a sci-fi thriller set in 1930s New York City. Both films were unsuccessful at the box office, but Jolie was successful in Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005). She was a housewife, pretending to be an assassin. While making the film she became acquainted with Brad Pitt who became her co-star.
